Wael Shublaq

Newfoundland Regional Director – 2nd Term: 2016-2020

Dr. Shublaq completed his M.B.B.CH training in Alexandria, Egypt in November 1983. His Diploma of Speciality (1994) and his PhD (1995) both in OB/GYN were completed in Wroclaw, Poland.

In 2002, Dr. Wael moved to Newfoundland, Canada and completed his Clinical Associate Neurosurgery by 2009.  He entered a Residency Training Program – Psychiatry – MUN from 2009 – 2011 which is not completed.

Dr. Shublaq was a GP in the Mental Health and Addictions Program, Psychiatry Department in Newfoundland from 2011 – 2015.  He is currently a Family GP with a solo practice clinic, and a methadone prescriber in the ODT Centre, in St. John’s, NL. He has been a peer reviewer for the Journal of Addiction Medicine.

Dr. Shublaq has been a member of CSAM since 2011 and has represented the board as the Newfoundland Regional Director since 2012. 2019 granted the certificate of added competence in Family Medicine – Addiction Medicine.
