With the development of robust certification processes in Addiction Medicine through the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) Certificate of Added Competence and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) Area of Focused Practice, the CSAM-SMCA board of directors voted in October 2025 to suspend further granting of certification for the 2025-2026 year to allow re-evaluation of our organization’s role in certification. Previously granted certifications will remain in place provided certificants maintain active membership.
