CSAM-SMCA grants support new ideas and creative approaches to treatment and research

The need for innovation in addiction care has never been greater. CSAM-SMCA is pleased to offer an updated and expanded grant program that is dedicated to supporting new ideas and creative approaches to education, treatment and research in addiction medicine. The CSAM-SMCA Grant Program  offers funding of up to $5,000 to support new projects in any aspect of addiction medicine, including education, research, policy development, new treatments and pilots of clinical programs.

Application Details

The lead applicant must be a member of CSAM-SMCA in good standing. Trainees, people with lived experience, and members of all regulated health professions are encouraged to apply. Applications will be evaluated in the areas of innovation, alignment with CSAM-SMCA’s Mission and Vision, potential to contribute to improving care for people with substance use disorders or process addictions, and other funding sources. Funded projects may be featured in CSAM-SMCA newsletters or on social media, and recipients will be encouraged to present at the CSAM-SMCA Annual Scientific Conference.

New applications will be reviewed quarterly and up to $10,000 will be awarded each quarter. An application will only be considered for the next submission deadline, except in exceptional circumstances. Some applicants may be invited to revise their application and resubmit.

Rolling submission deadlines are as follows:

  • March 15
  • June 15
  • September 15
  • December 15
