Dr. Leary serves as the Regional Medical Lead for Addiction Services at Health Sciences North in Sudbury, Ontario. She is also the Regional Clinical Co-Lead for Mental Health and Addictions for Ontario Health – Northeast Region and maintains a community-based addiction medicine practice.

An Associate Professor at NOSM University, Dr. Leary also holds the position of Medical Director of Continuing Medical Education with Continuing Education and Professional Development (CEPD) at NOSM U. She leads a CME research initiative aimed at improving outcomes for Northern Ontario patients with substance use disorders who face stigma within the healthcare system through multidisciplinary simulation-based education.

Based in Sudbury for over twenty years, and specializing in mental health and addictions for more than a decade, Dr. Leary has supported a range of organizations, including the Canadian Mental Health Association and the Sudbury District Jail. Her administrative and research focus now is on system improvement and care integration for people living with substance use disorders. Dr. Leary is the author of several peer-reviewed scientific publications, a speaker at provincial and national addiction conferences, and an active member of multiple advisory committees.
