Medical Students Special Interest Group
The CSAM-SMCA Student Interest Group (SIG) is for Canadian medical students who want to advance their understanding of addiction medicine. The group builds on standard medical school training to enable students to learn more about addiction medicine as a career, offer educational opportunities and offers members the opportunity to connect with peers and mentors in the Canadian addiction medicine community. The group was created by and for Canadian medical students, and is free to join.
UPCOMING SIG SESSION
CSAM-SMCA Special Interest Group (SIG) for Medical Students, Residents and Learners in Other Health Professions periodically hosts virtual learning events to provide a forum to learn about addiction medicine as a possible component of a future career and to assist learners in acquiring further expertise and knowledge in this area.
Join us online Nov. 27th to hear first-hand how encounters with health care providers impacted one woman’s journey of recovery.
A victim of human trafficking, Melanie’s life was affected by opioid and stimulant use, and she will share how both negative and positive interactions with healthcare providers impacted her journey. Now a devoted mother of two children, she is a passionate advocate for victims of human trafficking and an active volunteer and outreach worker in her community for an Indigenous health service and Sudbury and Area Victim Services (SAVS).
She has kindly agreed to answer participants’ questions and participate in discussion at the end of her presentation.
Please RSVP below and you will be sent the zoom link for the session Wed Nov 27th at 8 pm EST / 6 pm MST / 5 pm PST
